Local psychic wows Cheney audience with ability to ‘see’ signs

Psychics may know things—but they don’t have all the answers all the time.

Just ask one Bonnie Whiting, a "psychic intuitive."

She’s runs Angle Networks psychic readings and investigations in Coeur d’Alene (online at www.angelwork007.com) which offers a variety of services as a professional intuitive medium including intuitive workshops, satori/tai chi/yoga classes, group shows and private readings.

Last Friday, Whiting gave an evening lecture at Cheney’s Tree of Knowledge bookstore. Amidsts a backdrop of Harry Potter books and merchandise, spells and mysticism books and funky jewelry displays, she talked with a group of over 20 people on how to read evidence of the afterlife.

But this was not the often-envisioned crystal ball watching, palm reading session in a dark tent-type experience. Everything is out and open with Whiting, who, up until eight years ago, according to her online biography, didn’t know she had, let alone could practice, psychic abilities.

When her husband suggested she call a psychic to find out who was causing paranormal activity in their home and why, she was reluctant at the thought of it, but nonetheless made the call. The psychic informed Whiting that it was her crossed-over uncle who was trying to tell her that she is psychic and should start practicing.

Whiting’s first thought: This is a waste of time. But, she later realized both the psychic and late uncle were right in their conclusions.

That’s when she founded Angle Network, and she credits her ability to be an "intuitive reader" of paranormal activity to the practice of yoga, tai chi and cognitive meditation.

Whiting said it ultimately "has opened my inherited senses and enables me to give extraordinarily accurate and positive readings."

"This has not only helped my own life, but also the lives of at least 3,000 clients and their departed loved ones, including pets," Whiting said on her website.

So what exactly is intuitive reading and how does it work? Well, as last week’s audience learned, it’s sort of like police work—and working with electricity.

"Some think I’m pulling things out of thin air while what I’m really doing is reading from things I have to work with," Whiting said.

Where there is paranormal activity, there’s usually energy. People act as conductors. Once they know and see the signs the crossed-over are sending, they are able to plug into that energy, hence communicate.

She made a few connections like this with her audience. Looking over at a woman who came in late, she asked her why she was seeing the name Marilyn Monroe around her. The woman, a bit surprised, said that she had just posted a photo of the late actress on her profile on MySpace.com. Whiting then talked about signs associations, or what one typically thinks of when they think of, say, Marilyn Monroe.

"Her death, there was a lot of controversy about it," Whiting said. Then the word suicide came up.

The woman then said there had been a suicide death in her family.

Whiting later picked a man out of the audience and asked directly if he had a brother. He said yes.

"Does he have a history of depression?" Whiting asked.

The man replied by saying he was no longer alive and that they hadn’t spoken in years prior to his death.

Her abilities aside, Whiting will be the first to tell you she doesn’t always know who she’s reading signs from. It could be someone in the room she’s not talking directly to or even looking at. Or something that was talked about earlier during the lecture will pop up in a random place, like when Whiting asked members of the audience to pick a single word out of a book. It definitely happened more than once at this juncture.

But like all people, psychics are human too. And signs don’t always manifest in the way people would want them to. When people come to her looking for answers, she lets them know up front she doesn’t do specifics, like what sort of fishing hook is the best one to use—a question a client actually came and asked her once.

"Psychics can’t always give you a good prophecy…I’m not Mary Poppins," she said.

But there is something to be said for Whiting, who guessed this reporter’s purpose at the meeting and somehow managed to see the words "Free Press" from where she stood.

Whether this was forehand knowledge or not, it was a true finding—one this reporter won’t soon forget!
